Winter storage in Montenegro: Complete protection for your assets
Winter on the Adriatic is a challenge for boats. High humidity, stormy winds, and salt spray can age a yacht by several years in just a few months. BoatCare24 offers a comprehensive solution: from lifting the boat out of the water to complete turnkey preservation of all systems.
Winter on the Adriatic: Risks vs Safety
Safety in winter
Criterion;Yacht in the Water (Independent);Yacht on Land (BOATCARE24 Service)
Safety During a Storm;High risk. The “Bora” storm can tear off mooring lines or damage the hull against the dock. Constant monitoring is required;Absolute protection. The yacht is securely fixed on stands (keel blocks) in a guarded storage area
Hull Condition;Osmosis and fouling. Continuous contact with water leads to barnacle growth and risk of gelcoat osmosis;Hull recovery. The bottom is cleaned, dried, and inspected. The gelcoat retains its strength
Humidity and Interior;Risk of mold. Winter humidity in Montenegro can reach up to 90%. Without control, the interior and wood deteriorate;Climate control. Dehumidifiers and regular ventilation are installed. The cabin remains dry and fresh
Technical Systems;Corrosion. Salt mist and condensation gradually damage electronics and contacts in the engine room;Preservation. Systems are filled with antifreeze, contacts are protected, batteries are kept on continuous charge
Your Peace of Mind; You constantly check weather forecasts and marina cameras, worrying about the vessel; You receive a weekly photo report from BoatCare24 and calmly plan the next season
Season Start;Long and expensive. In spring, lifting, cleaning, and replacement of deteriorated components are required. Service queues can last up to 2 months;Immediate start. The yacht is ready for launch on the very first day of the season. All systems were inspected back in October
Leaving it in the water: You save on lifting costs today (~€ 1,200), but spend between € 5,000 and € 10,000 in the spring on repairs, cleaning, and unscheduled servicing.
By choosing BoatCare24, you are investing in professional maintenance, preserving your equipment warranty, and saving up to 40% of your total maintenance budget in the long term.

Description of services
We organize the safe lifting of the vessel to a shipyard or specialized site (dry dock). We use only certified lifting equipment and professional slipways (keel blocks) that are specifically suited to your hull model.
Immediately after lifting, while the hull is still wet, we thoroughly wash the bottom with high-pressure water. We remove microorganisms, algae, and shells, preventing them from becoming encrusted on the gelcoat.
Before putting the boat into storage, our engineer conducts a final audit for the season:
Checking the rudder, shafts, and propellers for damage.
Measuring the humidity of the hull (to prevent osmosis).
Inspecting all bottom valves (Kingstons).
The most crucial stage. We prepare the yacht for “hibernation”:
Engines and generators: Oil change, filling cooling systems with antifreeze.
Desalinators and air conditioners: Cleaning systems and preserving them with special compounds.
Water supply: Draining water and purging the system to prevent stagnation and bacterial growth.
Electrical system: Disconnecting consumers, checking the battery charge, and installing dehumidifiers.
Your yacht is located in a secure area with 24/7 video surveillance. We offer two options:
Dry Dock (Open area): Free storage/With protective tarpaulins or covers.
Indoor Storage (Covered boathouse): Maximum protection from sun and precipitation, hangars with or without heating.
